Towed Items Information
Total value of items towed:
Do ALL towed vehicles carry FULL coverage insurance in the US/Canada?
Determine your towed items total value. Items towed that are worth less than
$ 3,000 USD$ are not eligible for physical damage or theft coverage. Therefore its
value does not need to be included in the "Total Value".
It is mandatory that any insured vehicle written under a Mexican insurance policy
that is towing a trailer of any kind, be listed on the primary insured vehicles
policy. This also includes towing of another self propelled vehicle.
If an insured is towing another self propelled vehicle, such as a Motorhome towing
a Jeep, then each must have their OWN policy.
The Motorhome in this example, would also contain on its policy a description of
the Jeep. There is no additional charge for adding the Jeep to the Motorhome's
policy, but the Jeep must be disclosed on the policy for liability purposes. You
can purchase either Full Coverage (if it qualifies) or Liability Only coverage on
the jeep, but you have to purchase one.
Trailers can include Camper, Travel, 5th Wheels, Utility, Motorcycle, and of course
For Pickup trucks, also includes Pickup Shell or Slide in Campers.
Boats, Motorcycles, Jet Skis, Seadoos, and Waverunners, while being towed and listed
on the primary vehicles policy, can also be insured for physical damage while coupled
(hitched) to the primary vehicle.
If you wish to provide Full Coverage to your trailer, it must be valued for more
than $ 3,000 USD$, under 35’ (feet) in length, and under 20 years of age.
A Unit is each separate item being towed. For example, a boat trailer is one Unit
and the Boat is another. A motorcycle trailer is one Unit and the Motorcycle is
You can insure your Motorcycle and Boat while detached from their trailer through
us, if they qualify. Once you completed the process for the primary vehicle, you
can go back to our web Sites Home Page.
Failure to list all towed Units could VOID your coverage.
CHUBB Seguros does not provide physical damage or theft coverage for Dune Buggies
or Dirt Bikes that are not street legal, ATV's, or Quads.
Is vehicle a "Salvaged" title?
Once a Car Insurance Company declares a Vehicle a "Total Loss", sometimes
they sell the totaled vehicle at an auction for example, to recoup some of their
loss. If a Dealership, or individual then purchases that vehicle, and makes it road
worthy again, they must provide a "Salvaged Title" to anyone they resale
it to. This alerts potential buyers about the vehicles history. Each State has its
own word for a Salvaged Titled vehicle such as rebuilt, restored, reconstructed,
reconditioned, junk, repaired unsafe, non-repairable and of course, Salvaged.
If you purchase a full coverage policy, and posses a Salvage Title, then CHUBB
Seguros will cover that vehicle up to 50% of its ACV (Actual Cash Value)
MAPFRE Seguros does not offer any type of insurance.
CHUBB Seguros will indemnify (pay) the maximum of 50% of current value for a vehicle possessing a "Salvage Title", minus any applicable Deductible.
